Common questions

Choosing support is a personal decision, and it is normal to have questions before reaching out. These FAQs cover some of the things people often want to understand when looking for home, community or respite support.

How do you decide which support worker is the right fit for someone?

We look at more than availability. We consider the person’s needs, routine, communication style, interests, preferences and what kind of support will feel comfortable in their home or community. The right fit may be someone calm and steady, someone chatty and social, or someone with experience in a particular area of care. Our goal is to create a support arrangement that feels natural, respectful and practical.

Where possible, yes. We know familiar faces can make support feel easier and more comfortable. While availability can sometimes change, we do our best to keep support consistent and build a team the person can get to know over time.

Yes. Many people already have family, carers, support coordinators, allied health professionals or other providers involved in their care. We are happy to work alongside them so support feels clear, coordinated and in line with what the person needs. Good communication helps everyone understand what is working, what may need to change and how daily support can run more smoothly.

Social support can include a wide range of activities depending on the person’s interests, comfort level and goals. This may include going out for coffee, visiting friends or family, attending local groups, shopping, going for a walk, enjoying a hobby, attending appointments or simply having company for an outing. For some people, it may be about staying connected. For others, it may be about building confidence to get out more often.

Rural property respite may suit someone who would enjoy a quieter change of scenery near Edithburgh. It may be a good option for people who like a slower pace, time outdoors, simple activities and a break from their usual home routine. We look at each person’s comfort, needs and preferences before working out whether this type of respite support is suitable.

We will be honest with you. If we cannot provide the right worker, the right times or the right level of support, we will let you know rather than trying to make something fit when it does not. Where possible, we can also network with other providers to help you find a more suitable option. The priority is making sure you are connected with support that genuinely meets your needs.

Yes, we can talk through the type of support you are looking for and help you understand how it may align with your NDIS, DVA or My Aged Care funding. We cannot guarantee funding approval or make decisions on behalf of funding bodies, but we can explain the services we provide, what they may include and what information may be helpful when planning your support.
